Costa Mesa, CA – Fatal Motorcycle Crash on 405 Fwy. at Rte. 73

Costa Mesa, CA (July 2, 2024) – A motorcycle crash left a man dead in Costa Mesa on Tuesday, July 2. The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. on the 405 Freeway near State Route 73.

According to a report from the California Highway Patrol, an SUV struck a motorcyclist who was traveling in the fast lane. The motorcycle rider was ejected and was found lying in the roadway when officials arrived. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released thus far. One lane of the highway was shut down while police investigated the crash and cleared the area. Drivers were advised to avoid the scene and to find alternate travel routes if possible.
