Yermo, CA – Man Killed in Big Rig Crash on 15 Freeway

Yermo, CA (June 6, 2024) – Police in the Yermo area responded to the scene of a fatal crash involving a big rig on Wednesday, June 5th. The crash happened around 5:40 p.m. on the 15 Freeway, just south of Yermo Road.

According to a report from the scene, 55-year-old Stephen Snider, of Manistee, Michigan, was driving a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and towing a U-Haul trailer in the No. 2 lane of the freeway. At the same time, a 2016 Freightliner was also traveling southbound in the same lane. Snider stopped due to a traffic signal ahead of him, however, the Freightliner failed to stop and collided with the back of the U-Haul and the Chevrolet truck. The crash started a chain reaction, causing Snider’s vehicle to crash into a second big rig in front of him. Snider suffered critical injuries and died at the scene while the Freightliner driver sustained minor injuries. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident and its cause at this time. No additional information has been released.
